To make good biriany it require a delicate process to follow, if rice, meat and potato is cooked separately and mixed together, it doesn't become biriyani! I think, almost all of the restaurant do the same as a shortcut and for quick serve, I'm still up to find a good dom/kacchi biriyani restaurant.
