- ArthritisPatients more frequently affected include females between the ages of 40-60, persons who work manually via their hands, and those with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and gout. - Plantar Fasciitis
- Medical Weight LossThese days it seems like Americans are crazed about including protein in their diets, and many of the most popular diet or weight loss tips suggest increasing protein intake. However, a recent study shows that nearly half of older Americans (age 50 and older) are not consuming enough protein. This lack of protein can lead older adults to be more susceptible to common orthopedic injuries and general health issues.
- Emergency CareAcute tendon ruptures usually occur on the tennis, racquetball, or squash court. The player typically feels a “pop” in the calf and swears someone just whacked him with a ball or racquet. Often, they can still walk with difficulty. These injuries need to be addressed expeditiously for a good outcome. Unfortunately, 10-20% of acute achilles ruptures are misdiagnosed as a “sprain” in ER’s and urgent care centers an X-Ray’s show normal bones and patients are not fully examined. Delayed diagnosis of acute ruptures leads to more involved surgeries and less favorable permanent outcomes.
- ThyroidThe condition was named after a Swiss surgeon Fritz de Quervain, who incidentally, was famous for his work on thyroid disease and the public introduction of iodine into table salt decreasing the incidence of “goiters” (swollen thyroid glands) in Switzerland. The U.S. adopted this policy in the 1920s starting in the iodine deficient Midwest where goiters affected 20-30% of the population.
- UltrasoundOn the day of your appointment, a sample of your blood will be obtained. The blood will then be processed on site to create the PRP using the platelet enrichment activation process. While the PRP is being created, the area of your injury will be visualized using ultrasound and prepared to accept the PRP. For some conditions, a nerve block may be administered to reduce patients discomfort during the procedure. Using ultrasound guidance, we will direct a needle to the affected area to break up scar tissue and adhesions and stimulate a healing response. Following this the PRP will be placed directly to the treated area.

- X-Rays
- Computed TomographyThe majority of shoulder problems can be identified through a pertinent orthopedic history, orthopedic examination, and appropriate imaging studies, which may include x-rays, ultrasound exams, CT scans, or MRI evaluations. It is typically composed of five bony vertebrae and intervening soft separating discs. The lumbar spine is vulnerable to injuries often involving lifting. Low back injuries may be acute or chronic. Low back pain allows for millions of missed work days per year in the United States and worldwide. Back pain, back stiffness, radiating nerve pain, “sciatica,” and lower extremity weakness may be symptoms of a low back problem. Additional conditions that occur in the low back include arthritic conditions, disc degenerative conditions, and spinal stenosis.

This can also be an option in patients hoping to joint replacement surgery.

- Physical TherapyNot all trigger points require injection or needling. Many active trigger points will respond to physical therapy, especially in the early stages of trigger point formation. However, for chronic trigger points, trigger point injection and needling is an effective treatment. Proper examination and diagnosis by our professional staff would determine if patients could benefit from trigger point injections.
- Frozen Shoulder
- Back Pain
- Manual TherapyMyofascial trigger points are a major cause of pain and dysfunction. They produce pain focally and in a referred pattern and often occur in conjunction with chronic musculoskeletal pain disorders. Various modalities for the treatment of trigger points include spray and stretch, ultrasound, manipulative therapy, and trigger point injections.
- Ankle SprainMost ankle injuries can be managed with nonoperative treatment to include rest, bracing, activity modifications, medications, physical therapy, and occasionally injection treatments. More severe injuries such as displace ankle fractures or Achilles tendon ruptures may require surgical intervention.
- Bunions ProblemsFoot problems are not uncommon and may include fractures, sprains, painful calluses, bunions, hammer toes, pinched nerves, heel spurs, and planter fasciitis. Medical illnesses can result in foot problems, as well, leading to swelling, numbness pain, and blood flow issues.
- Calluses
- Hammertoes
- Heel Spurs
- Plantar FasciitisFoot and ankle conditions may include sprains, ligament injuries, plantar fasciitis and fractures. Most foot and ankle problems can be treated non operatively with bracing, shoe gear modification, home exercise and rehabilitation programs.
