He began his medical career in New Delhi and graduated from medical school in 1976. This was followed by two years of general surgery training in New York City. Subsequently, Dr. Anand completed otolaryngology head and neck residency training at Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital in Manhattan, New York in 1981. Subspecialty fellowship training in Head & Neck & Microvascular Surgery (fellowship) was completed in the following year in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

- OtolaryngologyAfter completing the above training, Dr. Anand joined the teaching staff of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1982. He advanced to the rank of Professor & Chief of the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery program where he remained until June, 2001 when he started his own practice. Dr. Anand is a member of numerous medical organizations and he has held important leadership roles. He has authored over 60 publications and book chapters.
- Reconstructive SurgeryAn ENT specialist is ready to start practicing after up to 15 years of college and postgraduate training. To qualify for certification from the American Board of Otolaryngology, an applicant must first complete college, medical school (usually four years), and at least five years of specialty training. Next, the physician must pass the American Board of Otolaryngology examination to be certified. Some ENT specialists pursue a one- or two-year fellowship for more extensive training in one of the seven subspecialty areas. These include pediatric otolaryngology (children), otology/neurotology (ears and balance.), allergy, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, head and neck surgery, laryngology.(throat) and rhinology (nose). Some ENT specialists limit their practices to one of these seven areas.
