The Capitol is open for guided tours. Drop-in tours for visitors, which do not require a reservation, will be conducted at 9:30 a.m., 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 2:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. Groups of 10 people or more must schedule a tour. Self-guided tours are available Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. The gift shop is open Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Patterned after the National Capitol, this has been the Capitol building for the state of Mississippi since 1903. Today it is major tourist attraction as well as the focus of Mississippi state government activities. For Visitors: There are currently two important interior restoration projects underway. The House Chamber and rotunda are undergoing their first major renovations in forty years. Due to this, both areas are closed to the public. However, the remainder of the building is open. Our virtual tour is being shown continuously in the building for visitors to enjoy. Thank you for your understanding and patience at this time.The Capitol is open for guided tours.
