I agree, he sucks. Doesn't even help you in training your dog. Better off just buying a book and reading it,. Don't waste your money, this dude sucks!!! And his guarantee is to be able to call him whenever a problem comes up, but really, would you want to call him back. If he did his job fro the beginning never have to call back. His training program sucks!! And on top of it he is so arrogant and has such a bad attitude.

His "method" might be fine with you and/or your dog, but not with me. I would really would have preferred to have known his "method" prior to forking over a non-refundable "lifetime" fee. I would never have agreed to it. The "trainer", Dennis, will not tell you his training methods before you pay his $500.00 fee. His card says: No shock collars, Choke chains, Clickers, or Treats needed. His method is to literally jerk your dog half way across the room to get it's attention. It did get my dogs attention, and Dennis proclaims it can't hurt the dog since dogs have "strong" neck muscles, but you make the decision. I'm not saying his method is wrong, but I suspect not many would shell out his $500.00 fee if they knew how their pets were going to be treated. That's why I'm writing this review. I don't think it's fair. Now you're informed and the decision is up to you.

I recently got a new puppy. When we welcomed the puppy into our home, we are excited, happy, and full of joy. Then he began acting like a puppy. Having had dogs my entire life, I thought I could handle the training. A few pieces of drywall, 3 pairs or shoes, and urine spots covering the carpet like landmines later, I decided it was time for professional help.Before selecting At Home Dog training, I interviewed a few candidates. Some trainers want to zap my dog. Others want to board him. Others wanted to feed him treat. Then we met Dennis with At Home Dog training. He laid out a comprehensive plan and noted the training lasts as long as it needs. As he says, not every dog will be trained in 5 session. I agree.We hired Dennis shortly thereafter, and with his training, out little monster has turned into a manageable and obedient dog. Even my Vet cannot believe how well my dog behaves; especially as a puppy.Even you are in need of a dog trainer, no matter how ill-behaviored your dog is, call Dennis. He is an absolute miracle worker. In addition to training our puppy, he taught our older dog, a 120-lb bull mastiff, how to walk on the leash! I never thought it possible, but now it is!thanks Dennis!

We considered just about every training option for our Goldendoodle puppy. We looked into Petsmart/Petco group training classes, read a ton of books and even talked to a local trainer who finds it necessary to shock your dog into behaving ("It's not a shock collar, it's a TENS unit."--Which is a euphemism for a shock collar.). Finally, our vet mentioned Dennis at At Home Dog Training. After five minutes with Dennis, and after seeing our dog's immediate and very positive response to him, we were sold. We signed with Dennis and saw immediate results (no kidding, within the first session, Dennis was able to break our dog of some bad habits). Eight weeks in now, and we are the proud owners of an extremely well behaved puppy--no more "accidents" in the house, no more jumping, no more crating--he now stays out of the crate, indoors, while we are away. Nothing short of amazing in my book. I cannot recommend Dennis enough. He has a simple and highly effective training program that is nothing but humane--you won't have to hurt your dog and you won't have to bribe your dog to behave. And as an added bonus, Dennis is a lot of fun to work with. I suspect both you and your dog will love working with Dennis!

If you want respect from your dog, seriously... call Dennis. He's not mean about it, he's not all about being the Alpha. He's cut and dry and fun while doing it. Sofie, my psycho, but sweet GSD, needed some help, we're still in training, but she loves Dennis and she's doing better and better each week. Dennis has a wonderful sense of humor and your dog will be mentally stimulated, which every dog needs. He teaches you and that is such a big thing with training, because then your dog thinks you know what you're doing :P Thanks Dennis!!!

Having recently adopted a very young and active dog, I've come to the realization that I needed help with training. Having owned a few other mature dogs, I'd forgotten just how much time and effort is involved in training a younger dog, especially one found as a stray with many bad habits. I was seriously getting desperate on how to deal with this new dog. Luckily, I found AT HOME DOG TRAINING and I am now making headway with my training. I really like AHDT's approach to training, which is basically "Think like a dog". I now know how to talk to my dog in a way he'll understand, and how to make him follow my commands. Dennis has also worked closely to address concerns like Biting, chewing, digging, stealing... Now both I, and my dog, are much happier! What a great service.

Having spend months trying to find the right Dog Training for my "High strung" (nice words for "Hyper-active") Border Collie Mix, I found it in At Home Dog Training. I was under the impression that the only way to train my dog was in a group setting, but this caused so many issues for us. It was a stress-filled mess! What we didn't realize was that the dog wasn't the one in need to training, WE WERE! Our Canine Counselor, Dennis, started off by teaching us how our dogs think, and how to interpret their behavior. Such a simple approach, yet the results are nothing short of amazing! We saw results in the first visit. It is a learning process for both owner and dog alike, but I can honestly say I have never had so much fun working with my dog. I Can't recommend enough.

We have 3 small dogs that did nothing but bark while at home and behave badly in the car. After only a few lessons I was amazed at how much they have improved. I know that they're not perfect (yet) but the difference is truly remarkable. He has not only helped us on the training but helped us with understanding their individual personalities. One of our dogs is neurotic. With simply praising her on her good behavior we are making great strides in eliminating her fear of being clipped. Previously there wasn't a groomer who could clip her so I had to start clipping her myself. I've previously clipped dogs but she was extremely difficult. She was afraid of the clippers and tried to bite them. I was afraid she would get hurt. Since starting our training with Dennis, we're so pleased that now we're on our way to having a dog that is groomed. We highly recommend At Home Dog Training to everyone.

Dennis is truly the Dog Whisperer!!! I had been having so much trouble with my dog Pepper, and the moment Dennis showed up to my house for the free evaluation, Pepper automatically seemed calmer than normal. Dennis' process is easy to follow and really made a lot of sense. And it's not based on fear or aggression, which I appreciate. Pepper improved so drastically over the weeks we worked with Dennis, I would highly recommend At Home Dog Training to anyone.

It was incredible to see results just after one visit. We have a guidebook to refer to at any time and can call if we need advice or schedule another visit. I have learned so much about our dog and look forward to our training! The training is efficient, fun, and much more cost effective then taking your pet elsewhere. It's a nice to be able to work with your pet at home in comfortable surroundings. I highly recommend it and have referred friends already.
