      At Kentucky Children Hospital, we never stop working to improve the care we provide for Kentucky greatest resource, its children. We have recruited more specialists, improved existing programs and started new ones. Among the experts we recruited is Rania Omar Burke, the new administrator for the Department of Pediatrics. Her experience and success implementing changes in other large hospital environments will help us ensure were doing our best to serve Kentucky children and their families. We opened the Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Room, allowing children to have their own unique emergency-care environment. We started a program to improve the quality of our outcomes, and its success can already be measured. We improved our outreach, making it easier for community doctors to get information about their patients and consult with our specialists. We began initiatives to encourage breastfeeding mothers and to identify patients with un diagnosed asthma. We had small successes and large ones,and were proud to share them with you. Every year thousands of families trust their children and their babies to our care. At Kentucky Children Hospital, we value that trust and we strive to do our best by recruiting the best doctors and by providing the highest standard of treatment for every child. Kentucky Children Hospital is the treasure of the Commonwealth because of the children we serve and the families we help.
