General Info
Welcome to Periodontal Offices. We are a regional dental specialty treatment facility dedicated to the prevention and treatment of periodontal disease ( major cause of tooth loss ), other soft tissue pathologic conditions that affect the oral cavity, and the implant replacement of lost teeth. Our staff is uniquely prepared to diagnose and recommend treatment to address our patient's specific problems and their desires. Our treatment approaches target the specific causes of oral disease and establish health and function for long-term maintenance. Our periodontists, Drs. James A. Walker, Wayne B. Kaldahl, and John E. Rutledge, practice a full scope of periodontics with expertise ranging from dental implants to cosmetic periodontal surgery, gum grafting and crown lengthening. Our office is located at 1640 South 70th Street, NE 68506 Lincoln Suite 200 Call 402.483.7631. Inflammatory periodontal disease ( i.e., gum disease ) is the major cause of tooth loss in adults. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that individuals who have lost their teeth and wear dentures ( i.e., plates ) have considerably less chewing efficiency and will unconsciously avoid the more nutritious foods that require good chewing. This has raised concerns and has been implicated in being responsible for low levels of malnutrition. New studies have also appeared relating a possible link of inflammatory periodontal disease and loss of teeth to 1 ) cardiovascular disease and 2 ) pregnant mothers having pre-term low birth weight babies. Therefore, we strive to maintain the natural teeth in health and function as well as recommend replacing the missing teeth where possible with prosthesis to improve the patient's quality of life.
