      Pettis Memorial Veterans' Med Center is part of the Desert Pacific Healthcare Network, which provides patient care, research and teaching to veterans in Southern California and Southern Nevada. The center is located in Loma Linda, Calif., and provides a wide variety of services through inpatient, outpatient and home care programs. The major bed services include medicine, surgery, psychiatry and neurology. The facility has more than 90 acute care beds and in excess of 100 beds in its Nursing Home Care Unit. Pettis Memorial is affiliated with Loma Linda University Medical Center and Loma Linda University Health Care, which provides primary care at VA Community Based Clinics located throughout the California counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. The medical center was named in the memory of Congressman Jerry L. Pettis, a Pacific World War II veteran who worked diligently to locate the facility in Loma Linda.
