I set out on the morning of April 5th in a contented and happy state of mind. 'Should have known that would not last. I was on my way to Sears on Bellflower Blvd. to pay my bill of $37.58. Normally, this should be a very simple and uncomplicated task, right? Wrong! First of all the young man who was at the check out said he could not accept my debit card from another provider but he could accept a check or cash. I wrote a cheque for the amount and wrote the credit card number on the memo line of the check. He then asked me, in a rude and off hand way, "Which credit card are you using?" I showed him the statement sheet where there is a picture of the card and the account number. He was not happy with this and told me, in no uncertain terms, "You should know which card by now"! Astonished, I tried to remain calm and untroubled by this but it did not end there. I showed him the picture of the card and the account number and was told, "You should have the card with you". I responded, "Oh no I do not. That is all the information you should need.
At this point I could hardly contain myself and I told this impudent puppy, "You have a lot to learn about dealing with customers. Remember, we are the ones keeping you in a job when we shop here". He told me that "Everyone has a lot to learn, even you".
I did not want to continue this situation as my head was beginning to ache and I just wanted to get out of that awful store. But, yes, you get it. I was not able to leave right away. The machine that is supposed to accept checks would not accept my check. I tried a little giggle just to console myself. Another clerk was able to demonstrate to the young man just how to do this operation. And then, finally, I asked him to staple the receipt to the statement but, yes, you guessed it, he could not find the stapler. Again a more resourceful clerk found the stapler from just behind the counter and, yes, you've got it again! The stapler would not work! And, yes, again, the more resourceful clerk was able to demonstrate how to put a little more pressure on the stapler to make it work. I asked the young man if this was his first day on the job. He replied that it was not his first day.
Somewhere inside of my head a little voice whispered, (what a pity it is not your last day).
With head banging, and some sweat beginning to soak my clothing, I hurried from the store and ran next door to TJ Maxx where the atmosphere was so much better.
Will I shop at Sears Bellflower any more, My response is a resounding "NO"!

I shopped at Sears for a mattress. The store personnel was helpful. I ordered the mattress but then found it cheaper somewhere else. I called to cancel my order and that's when the problems started. I was told I had to call customer service. They said my order was cancelled and I would receive my money back in 7-10 working days. ($550.00) The next Friday they tried to deliver the mattress anyways. My husband was told that we would not receive our money back for another 8-10 business days. When I purchased the mattress there was not problem debiting my account for the money. Why does it take 3 1/2 weeks to get my money back? Customer service was no help. They said they would email the manager and to expect a call within 2 MORE business days. I am very unhappy with Sears. I always thought they were a good company, but now that I have experienced this, I will not shop there again.
