      The Los Angeles County Probation Department has been in operation since 1903. The department is responsible for providing investigation and detention services for the residents of Los Angeles County in California. It has a staff of more than 5,800 employees in over 50 locations. The Los Angeles County Probation Department specializes in court order enforcement and corrective assistance to various individuals. The department operates several divisions, such as administrative services and field services. Its detention bureau is responsible for the protection of minors detained at the juvenile halls. In addition, the Los Angeles County Probation Department s Juvenile Special Services Bureau offers community transition, intensive gang supervision, special enforcement operation and multisystemic therapy services.
