- Dr. L. Kevin Chapman adminsters cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) for the effective, research-supported treatment of anxiety and related disorders, such as OCD, Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder (Phobia), Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, and Depression.Dr. Chapman is also an Associate Professor in Clinical Psychology at the University of Louisville in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Dr. Chapman is the Director of the University of Louisville Center for Mental Health Disparities for which he specializes in the assessment and treatment of anxiety and related disorders as well as mental health disparities. Dr. Chapman places particular emphases on the assessment and treatment of anxiety and related disorders, mental health and wellness, as well as risk and protective factors (resiliency, religious coping) for mental illness in underserved families. Dr. Chapman is the Faculty in Residence for the University of Louisville Muhammad Ali Institute, a former fellow at the Texas Center for Health Disparities, and currently serves as the Chair of the Master Clinician Series for the Association for the Advancement of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Dr. Chapman is also the lead interventionist for the Television Show Power to Change hosted by Charla Young.Dr. Chapman serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of Anxiety Disorders and is a regular reviewer for several other psychology journals. Dr. Chapman is a member of several professional organizations, societies, and special interest groups including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT, African American and Anxiety Disorder Special Interest Groups), the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the Anxiety Disorders Association of American (ADAA). Dr. Chapman received his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Centre College in 2000, Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Kentucky University in 2002, and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Louisville in 2006. Dr. Chapman is originally from Louisville, Kentucky.
