General Info
Timothy Vanderbilt is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He graduated with honors in civil engineering from the United States Military Academy in West Point, NY. His medical degree is from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he also graduated with honors. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, WI. After graduation he served on active duty in the Air Force and completed a 3-year fellowship in orthopaedic traumatology and arthroplasty at the University Medical Center of Southern Nevada in Las Vegas, NV. Dr. Vanderbilt’s practice is focused on musculoskeletal traumatic injuries of the extremities and pelvis. He also has an interest in deformity correction, limb lengthening, and surgical treatment of osteomyelitis. Dr. Vanderbilt is a member of the Orthopaedic Trauma Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Academy of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. Vanderbilt served a total of 9 years on active duty in the Air Force including two deployments to Afghanistan in 2015 and 2018. He has also participated in multiple medical missions to India, Uganda, and the Dominican Republic. In his time away from work, Dr. Vanderbilt enjoys hunting and fishing. While stationed in Alaska he developed a passion for mountain hunting. He’s been lucky enough to do 10 hunts in Alaska over the past 5 years and plans to return every year. I love my job. Beyond the technical aspects of my work, I really enjoy the relationships that develop by walking alongside my patients. Trauma and surgery are scary, so I do my best to make sure each patient and their family members feel reassured that they’re in good hands. I treat each patient like I would want my family member to be treated. – Timothy Vanderbilt, MD
