I went to Japanica Sushi Hibachi 4918 S 74TH Milwaukee February 10, 2011 with my wife who is Philippine to her Philippine friends birth day party there was 15 of us in total. Are arrival time was 6:30pm. When we first arrived there everything seemed to be unorganized there was hardly anybody in the restaurant however we had to stand around for a very long time before being seated.



The Chinese lady who was sitting up front I don’t know if she is the owner however she came over to our hibachi table and looked very pushy and rude and snooty like if she was at a higher standard then south east Asian people from my perspective looking at her body language and facial expressions. She looked like somebody who once ran a braffel house



The waiter who servied us soup did not have one for me. He did not have the courtesy to say I will be back with your soup. My wife had to flag him down for it and he actually looked annoyed like if I was not part of the group because cause I was the only guy at the party. Keep in mind I was the one paying for 20 dollars for combo chicken with stake and 20 dollars for combo shrimp for my wife I am a paying customer. We actually had to walk around the restaurant and ask other staff that was not doing any thing to get are drinks and even after all of that we still did not receive our drinks until almost the end of the night because the staff that was not doing anything never even responded.



The only time that I had seen the snooty arrogant pushy Chinese lady smile was when the waiter brought all of are bank card to process up front.



Over all I would rate this restaurant a 0 the service was absolutely horrible the food was over priced and was comparison to an appetizer for the party and the owner is arrogant and pushy and not very friendly and her staff is unorganized.

I went there with my girlfriend for a luncheon January 23rd 2010. I don't know if they have new owners, they bought there fish fresh from the pacific and had it personally shipped to them, but my goodness...the entrees were WAY overpriced. I had other japanese food, and their quality is great and the prices are wonderful, and very reasonable. I would never again pay almost $20 dollars for hibachi chicken dinner...20 dollars!?!?! for chicken and rice and vegs and 2 pieces of shrimp? We had sushi platter and it wasn't even filling and I left there really dissatisfied. our waiter was nice and welcoming but the lady that sat in the front was a bit pushy and rude.

so that was about a year or so ago....I've noticed that some of the menu prices/items have changed and it looks to be different. I'm willing to give this place another chance....i have to say..they have this amazing seafood appetizer with crunch on top with the mayo spicy sauce from the sushi appetizer bar.<to die for! Ok Japanica..make me a believer.

When we received the bill, we were surprised to see an 18% gratuity fee added. We brought it to their attention and a BIG scene was made - trying to make us look cheap. They showed us the last page in the multiple page menu and very small at the bottom stated that an 18% gratuity will be included and added. They should just change their prices and put this in to reflect the true price. OVERPRICED and VERY OK food for the OK service. Others in area much better food, service and NO HIDDEN FEES! Try Izumi's, Benihanas or many others before this place.
