Since its founding in 1871, Lakewood has been recognized nationally as one of the most beautiful cemeteries in America. Visitors are always welcome to walk throughout our 250 park-like acres. Our Garden Mausoleum, an award-winning masterpiece of contemporary architecture, is open 10 AM - 4:30 PM daily. Our historic Memorial Chapel, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the centerpiece of the cemetery and a priceless treasure. It's recognized as one of the most perfect examples of Byzantine mosaic art in the United States. The Chapel is open during seasonal events.
