- Dental CareAn 8 -year-old Shih Tsu was presented for an annual cleaning. We had performed a professional dental cleaning 13 months previous, and the owner was performing routine homecare. Conscious oral exam was unremarkable and revealed no gingivitis and minimal calculus.
- VaccinationO Different providers, whether a veterinarian or breeder or other individual, often have very strong opinions on vaccines: what should be given, when they should be given, how many should be given, and how the vaccines ought to be administered. Here at Doctors Pet Clinic, we rely on the best medical evidence about what is safe and effective for your pet. To that end, we follow the latest guidelines issued by the veterinary hospital at UC Davis. These guidelines are informed by published studies and recommendations made by well-respected task forces taking into consideration the benefits versus risks of currently-available vaccines. - Comprehensive ExaminationWellness exams are a vital component of what is known as “preventive medicine.” The goal of preventive medicine is to find and treat diseases BEFORE they become serious. This is typically much easier on the pet, the owner and the pocket book! That old adage, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” holds true for our pets as well. There have been so many advances in veterinary medicine that many diseases which may have greatly shortened your pet’s lifespan in the past can now be managed (if detected early) so that your pet can live a longer, happier life.

- Skin Condition and Allergy TreatmentPaloma started her career in the animal industry in 2009 when she enrolled in a grooming program with Animal Behavior College. From there, she volunteered at the local animal shelter for nine months to gain knowledge and work with underprivileged animals. She not only refined her grooming ability, but she also gained invaluable experience when it came to assessing pre-existing injuries, skin conditions, and other important health issues that may affect a pet’s overall health. She then had the opportunity to work side by side with a mentor to perfect her talent and technique. She graduated in 2010 as a Certified Professional Pet Groomer. After that she realized she wanted to learn more, and enrolled in a Vet Assisting program from Animal Behavior College. In 2015 she was hired at a local animal hospital. She has spent the last 5 years learning animal medicine, and combining it with her knowledge of grooming. She couldn’t be happier to have joined the team here at, Doctors Pet Clinic, where the health and safety of each patient is always put first. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, fostering, writing, dancing and spending time with her family and her dog Bella.

- Urinary Tract Infection TreatmentWe provide in-house laboratory services so that we may test and diagnose symptoms of sick animals, and to perform pre-anesthetic blood work prior to a surgical or dental procedure. We can also evaluate fecal samples for parasites and test for urinary tract infections with quick results. The cause of ear and skin infections can be determined by microscopic evaluation of the types of organisms present. These findings allow us to rapidly evaluate and begin treatment of the conditions.

- Laboratory ServicesThis can vary depending on your pet’s age, breed, lifestyle and illness history. Generally, younger animals (less than 7 years of age) need annual wellness exams. Older pets (over 7 years of age) should have a semiannual wellness exam. Pets with potentially serious diseases may need more frequent exams and laboratory testing. It is important to remember that pets age at a more rapid rate than their human caretakers. The following chart depicts a dog or cat’s lifespan relative to human years...

Because we have veterinarians and technicians on staff, we specialize in boarding animals with medical problems, who are geriatric and in need of a little extra care, or whose medication must be delivered properly. A complimentary bath is given after a seven day stay with us.
