      General Info
      Following three years as the head building inspector for Allen Associates Building Inspection Service, Dwayne founded Independent Building Inspections of Santa Barbara in 1988, and has personally performed over 12,000 inspections in the last 23 years. He is past President (1992-1996) and founder of the Central Coast Chapter of California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA). In addition to commercial and residential inspections, Dwayne has been performing asbestos inspections and radon testing since 1988, as well as electromagnetic field testing, environmental illness investigations and mold assessments since 1995. He has testified as an expert witness in numerous construction defect and mold cases over the past 19 years. In 1991 Dwayne developed The Benchmark Report, a checklist inspection reporting system, and in 1997 he created Power Inspector, an inspection software system. These systems, marketed by his firm Benchmark Inspection systems from 1991-2004, are used by more than 1000 companies nationwide. In 2001 Dwayne founded Premier Environmental Services, where he performed over 2000 Mold and Moisture Assessments before selling the company in 2004. Through DeVries Building Consultants, Dwayne now does building inspections for buyers and owners of both residential and commercial properties, performs Mold Assessments, Asbestos Surveys and Indoor Air Quality Assessments, and works as a litigation consultant and expert witness on construction defect and mold cases.
