- General Info
- The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is a part of the Community Service Society of New York. The program enlists senior citizens and retirees to serve as volunteers in their communities. It has more than 7,000 volunteers who serve approximately 600 organizations annually. The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program volunteers in soup kitchens, food pantries, hospitals and multicare centers. Founded in 1966, the program assists public and nonprofit agencies and provides technical support, consultation, and training for managing and running volunteer programs. Its volunteers mentor troubled teenagers and provide entitlement counseling and management assistance to nonprofit agencies. The Retired & Senior Volunteer Program additionally organizes activities in child care centers and prepares and serves meals in soup kitchens.
