      **BODIROCK KIDZ HIP-HOP** BEGINNING SATURDAY AUGUST 2ND! Every Saturday 12:30pm- 2pm for children 7-12 yrs old. No experience necessary. LOCATION: IN THE GROOVE STUDIOS- 580 14th Street (@Jefferson) in Oakland TUITION: $45/ month ITEMS NEEDED FOR CLASS: T-shirt, sweatpants/dance pants ( NO jeans) no earrings or jewelry & sneakers. Water bottle is optional, but does help. Please arrive on time for class. Class/Program description: BodiRock Kidz Hip-Hop consists of 4 parts: Dance technique,Choreography, History, and Culture. All students will study and practice the following: STYLE: Hip-Hop HISTORY, CULTURE, PURPOSE: Background on the various sub-genres of Hip-Hop Dance technique, pioneers in the dance/music genre, how Hip-Hop came to be and the 4 elements of Hip-Hop Culture: DJing, Emcee, Breakdance, Graffiti Art. TECHNIQUE: Hip-Hop, Break dance basics, Popping, Locking, House & Turf Dance. Additional elements include: footwork, turns, slides, freestyle development, & level changes. -Body Conditioning & strength training -Choreography/formation work ( additional elements of dance & performance training) -Fusion element: How to mix various styles of dance together in one routine -Musicality: Not just dancing to counts or lyrics. Learning how to feel and find the rhythms and sounds in the music, and learn to create choreography in that space. -Staging The goal of The BodiRock Kidz Hip-Hop Program is: To teach the fundamentals of Hip-Hop dance, while incorporating the history and culture of the style so children can be well-rounded in their knowledge.
