      Perry County Nursing Home & Independence Health Systems, established in 1997, is a nonprofit, health care agency providing independent and assisted living services to the elderly. It has a licensed skilled care center with more than 120 beds. The facility is certified by Medicaid and it also offers hospice care services. It also has a unit that offers treatment to patients suffering with Alzheimer s disease and provides physicians, nurses, social workers, dieticians and patient care coordinators. It also provides various therapies, such as physical, speech, occupational and recreational therapies. Its other residential living centers include the Independence Court Assisted Living Center, Independence Square Residential Care Center, Independence Bridge and Independence Village. Its Independence Village is a retirement community that offers retirement living apartments with services and amenities, such as Building and Yard maintenance, garbage disposal services, 24-hour alarm monitoring systems, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers, and beauty salons and barbershops.
