I started training at PHMAC in my mid twenties.. being in my mid forties now I can say the experience has been tremendous. It has set the tone for all of my other activities and training. I recall when I started at 26 I felt out of shape and lethargic.. inside of two months I dropped 35lbs and took up running to increase endurance and footwork. Since then I have become an avid runner, and take part in several triathlons per year. This is all side training for me, and helps me stay in shape for my workouts at PHMAC. The level of fighters at the club is amazing and everyone is positive and friendly. Excellent evenings spent learning and drilling techniques presented by Dan Moore and his staff. The school has taught me to find my limits and push the boundaries. The teaching of fighting fundamentals and building blocks along with constantly evolving new advanced techniques provides for a world class experience.

I have had a tremendous experience at Penn Hills MMA Center. Dan Moore is an excellant trainer with great experience and training techniques. He provides a great workout, confidence, self defense, and a positive attitude. Not only are all these things present it's very enjoyable as well. The training provides great fitness and I've been becoming in the best shape: however being able to learn something and enjoy it as valuable knowledge, has been very rewardfing. I've also enjoyed meeting the other people who are training. They vary from accomplished true fighters to those who are there for the enjoyable learning and fitness. Everyone is respected and considered one of the group and that is due to the fine character of the clients, trainers and Dan Moore as the professional leader. I would highly reccomend this center as when I get home after my workout and training: the shower feels better, the food tastes better and I sleep with a greater restfulness. It's very effective. Try it!

Everything about Penn Hills M...

Everything about Penn Hills MMA is customer driven. From the one on one instruction to the facility itself, I can't say enouigh good things about it. The instructor, Dan Moore,(over 30 plus years of martial arts training) is knowledgable and patient and takes the time with each student to make sure they are getting exactly the right training to reach their own individual goals. If you want to cage fight, box, grapple or just get a good cardio workout, this is where its at! It doesn't matter how old or young, (by the way, I'm 60 years young) there's a customized program waiting for you. Private lessons are available and you get a great feeling of accomplishment when Dan takes you to YOUR limit, not a bunch of other people's limit, like in a group class.

Fitness

As a 30 something year old woman, I was looking for a new work-out routine. I would usually run for cardio or take the occasional class at the gym, but I was not seeing results. A friend of mine had always raved about the kickboxing sessions she had with Dan Moore. I decided to try it about a year ago and have since noticed significant cardiovascular improvement and my entire body is more toned.

What I like about Dan's sessions are that they are private so I do not feel like I have to keep-up or feel held back by others in the class, every session is more challenging than the last, and most of all I am learning self defense while getting a full body work-out!

Pittsburgh's Best Kept Martial Arts Secret

Growing up, I always participated in sports and was very competitive in nature doing very well in cross country and track. That said, I boxed for about a year on and off really enjoying the change of pace and cardiovascular workout that it offered. I became interested in mixed martial arts several years ago, but only two or three months ago told myself to stop watching it on TV and start learning. I then put the word out that I was looking for the best Pittsburgh had to offer with regards to mixed martial arts. Dan Moore's name repeatedly came up as the best around. I openly stated "I do not want a "tough guy" atmosphere that one may run into at other clubs, noting that I wanted an atmosphere conducive to learning, yet I also wanted someone who could challenge me at every workout to push myself to exhaustion. My goals are to learn, have fun, have an incredibly workout and in training over that past two months twice a week I have never been disappointed leaving truly excited about what I have learned and with a rush that only comes after pushing yourself to exhaustion.

I would recommend training with Dan to anyone. Truly, as I sit here and think, there is nobody that comes to mind that cannot benefit physically and or mentally from training with Dan regardless of there goals.

You don't have to be an Ultimate Fighter to train like one!

General Info
At Penn Hills Martial Arts Center, we offer flexible scheduling, private and semi-private settings, and evening and weekend availability. We also cater to busy Professionals/Executives. About Our Philosophy: We don't teach you traditional karate, boxing, or wrestling, even though your training will draw on these and other disciplines. We won't lock you into particular stances or positions, even though you'll learn a lot of them. We won't insist that you have an enlightened state of mind either, because there's nothing mystical about what works. And we won't make you train for years to see results; we can teach you to defend yourself in just six months. Our clients are ordinary men, women, and teens who come to us for a variety of reasons. Some want to take charge of their own safety. Some come to advance the training they've received at a traditional martial arts school. Others want to test themselves in competition. Some of our clients, who don't see themselves as fighters, come for the beneficial effects of our programs: fitness, stress relief, increased self-confidence, and enhanced sports performance. Whatever your agenda, we'll give you customized training that will produce results. Penn Hills doesn't offer generic programs. A program is tailored to the individual and their needs. There is no militant type atmosphere, but rather an environment of comfort and relaxation, at a reasonable price. Dan customizes a challenging, intense, fun workout.
