My boat was in consignment for about a year. I was told there were interested parties, but no offers. I took the boat back to try to sell it myself and found that the motor would not crank over. The boat had been winterized , but found that it must have been used and not rewinterized, as water was found in the manifolds. Further troubleshooting revealed the starter had been submersed and was rusted solid; the engine was tight to turn as well. A new battery had been installed by the company, apparently to try to turn over the motor. My deduction is someone took the boat out after winterization, then did not redrain the engine and left the drainplug in during the winter. No wonder they couldn't sell the boat. Luckily, it only cost me around $350 for a new starter and to break-free the frozen engine. Cons: Cost me $350, Was not told of problem. Pro: New battery for free, sold boat in 1 day.
