All I can say is very unprofessional. I asked Dr. Curtis not to feed my puppy his cheap dog biscuits because I have her on a special diet to avoid allergies and that I brought my own treats to feed if he wants to giver her something. he tried to force me into giving other shots with the puppy vaccine. I said not until she is older. He also wanted me to bring my adult rescue in for her yearly shots. I requested titers to be done and he basically said that whoever is filling my head with this garbage is going to cost me my furbabies life. He wont do titers whether detrimental to the animals life or not. Plus he gave my puppy her shot and she cried out in pain, not from the prick of the needle but because he jabbed her real hard with a shot that is subcutaneous. He also hurt my adult furbaby by supposedly squeezing her anal glands. He didn't use anything to lube her he just jabbed his big fat fingers in. I really feel that he possible caused the death of my previous furbaby that passed after only going to him for only 8 months and putting her on numerous medications that made her worse. and the only reason I took her to him was for a refill of her allergy and seizure medication. We had just moved here from out of state. He said that she was old and had heart problems and could go at any time. She was only 11 years old and besides seizures and allergies had no other medical problems. I can't prove anything but the fact that my baby died 8 months after seeing him. He charges outrageous amounts. I never understood why the office was hardly busy, but we would have to wait a long time to be seen. He needs to be put out of business. He has no idea what he is doing and is causing harm to all animals. Please don't take your furbabies to Academy unless you want them to suffer.

The doctor here (Dr. Curtis), is a piece of trash. He constantly prescribes expired medication to pets. He treats his employees like trash. All he cares about is making a quick penny. He would literally sell his soul to make an extra few bucks. It's sad. He also like to throw his military background into every ones face. Like that makes up for the horrible business he practices. He's not a good person and there are far better places to take your pets. Do not go here.

Horrible experience!!!! Missed diagnosed multiple times, given meds that caused more harm then good, and the charges are extremely high. Spent $400 on said meds, and all I got in return was sorry that may have caused more harm, lets try this new med that will only cost $200 from us and $10 bucks from Rite Aid!! And after all this in the end the animal had to be put down at the ripe old age of 1.5 yrs. I wouldn't recommend taking a gold fish to these people!

I'd give 0 stars if I could. This place is trash. They could care less about your pets but feign just enough interest to get you in the door for the $$$. I know of at least 2 other people with HORRIBLE news-worthy instances of them lying, overcharging, neglect, misdiagnoses and malpractice. And thats just the combined experiences of myself and 2 other people. Seriously, there are much, MUCH better places to take your pets in St. Albans and more specifically the Charleston area.
