Sunshine Ministries is a nonprofit organization that serves men, women and children. The agency was founded in 1903 as a soup kitchen and homeless shelter for men. Its Youth & Family Center features a gym, snack bar, and classroom with a library loft and computer learning centers. Sunshine Ministries also provides rehabilitation and transitional programs. The agency offers Christian social services for low-income families. Its emergency services include food pantry and community closet. Sunshine Ministries provides a 13-month Resident Recovery Program for men working to overcome addictive behavior. In addition, the agency offers after-school programs for children in kindergarten through high school. It operates a playschool program for pre-schoolers. Sunshine Ministries operates Eagle Lodge, which is a summer camp for inner-city children and teenagers.
