- Internal MedicineDr. Kelso grew up in the central Texas town of Waco. There she grew up influenced by her father, also a physician, who instilled in her a strong work ethic. She grew up seeing the dedication and care he gave to his patients. In addition to influencing her profession, he also exposed her to the love of outdoors with yearly hiking trips set to the soundtrack of John Denver and Neil Diamond. She remembers fondly Sunday afternoons that consisted of driving down country lanes and watching Cowboys football during the Tom Landry tenure. She attended UT in Austin for her undergraduate program, and after graduating from Plan II Honors, she attended UTMB in Galveston for her medical school training, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received the Thomas Freese award for outstanding dermatology medical student. She continued her training with a year in Internal Medicine for her Internship, followed by a three residency in dermatology at UTMB. Under the tutelage of caring and knowledgeable professors, she was exposed to a wide array of skin conditions and medical problems in her training program that prepared her well for clinical practice. She continued to stay on as faculty for two years as a Clinical Assistant Professor, both seeing patients and teaching medical students and residents. After Hurricane Ike hit Galveston in 2008, she and her husband decided to relocate inland to San Antonio in 2009. At that time, she started a dermatology practice. She feels lucky to call San Antonio home and regards it as a warm, friendly place with nice people. She is grateful for the trust patients place in her and strives to make sure it is well-earned every single day. Excellence in patient care is her top priority. When she is not at the office, she spends time with her husband and boy and girl twins and three crazy dogs. She enjoys traveling, hiking, skiing, watching movies, reading, and being in the outdoors. She is in the process of trying to become a good cook. She has been board certified by the American Board of Dermatology since 2007.
- UltrasoundUltherapy Ultherapy is a non-invasive alternative to cosmetic surgery for lifting loose, sagging skin around the neck, chest, chin and brow area. The procedure is FDA approved, and uses ultrasound technology to tighten skin and ease fine lines and wrinkles, without cuts or scarring. Contact the dermatologists at Alamo Heights Dermatology to learn more about the benefits of Ultherapy and non-surgical skin care treatments.
- Wound CareAfter a procedure, a dressing will be applied to the area. We ask that this dressing stay in place for 24 hours. You should not get the bandage or wound wet until the original bandage has been removed. After removal of the bandage, wash the area gently twice a day with soap and water. After cleaning the affected site, apply a layer of Vaseline (you will be provided with a tube of sterile Vaseline at the office visit) and cover with a bandage. This process will need to be repeated twice a day until the sutures are removed. Topical antibiotics such as Neosporin or Bacitracin are typically unnecessary for routine wound care and contribute to contact dermatitis. If the area appears to be infected, please contact our office.

- Cosmetic DermatologyA-list celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston have been known to sing the praises of microneedling (also known as collagen induction therapy), a non-surgical cosmetic dermatology procedure that pricks tiny holes over the face and neck with microscopic needles, to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin for tighter, fresher looking skin.
- Skin CancerDr. Fricke: 5!!! The daily use of sunscreen decreases the incidence of melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, as well as non-melanoma skin cancers. Anyone can get skin cancer, regardless of age, gender, or skin tone. Sunscreen also prevents premature skin aging, such as fine lines, wrinkles, and sunspots. And no amount of skincare can overcome these effects of the sun. Thus, sunscreen is the foundation of any good anti-aging skincare routine.
