I attended this wonderful school June 5, 2017. I'm proud to say that I have received my training from Family Health Services Training Center, and I highly recommend this school. Here are my reasons.

1. You will learn what is important and necessary. Two weeks of lecture. Make sure to study your tubes and the additives it will be on the national exam.

2. You will be taught the right way how to draw blood. This school has caring teachers that will make sure you have the confidence to be out there in the working field. They will take the time to make sure you know what you're doing. Each person that is staffed at Family Health Services Training Center is a licensed phlebotomist. You will have more than one teacher helping you lean the steps. This is a big Plus! Two weeks of hands on with the understanding of how a lab works. Tammy was a wonderful instructor. Also everyone in your class is going to be at the same level as you are. So you won't have new students coming in each week.

3. Internship is 80 hours, the places to do your internship are well known Corporate labs, hospitals, or a small clinic. This is another big Plus!!

4. The school takes pride in each and every single one of their students. They want to make sure that you represent their school well. The school allows you to come back to refresh on skills or sit in on lectures. I have never heard of a school doing that. I love Family Health Services Training Center!

5. They also accept MyCAA it's a military spouse grant for active military of E-5 and below!!!!!!!!

6.Make sure you arrive early to find parking in Balboa Park. I loved how they enforced students to be punctual. There's nothing worse than starting late waiting around for late student. This school will start on time every time.

7. You will take your national exam(NCCT) at the school. The school staff members will help you with the any questions when applying for your CA state license. (f.y.i - your CA state license process takes about two months then you can apply for a job after you have received your CA state license)

A side note when I did my internship at Paradise Valley Hospital just about every working phlebotomist was a past student of Family Health Services Training Center.

Thank you Family Health Services Training Center!!!!

Your past student that asked a lot of questions all the time Alexis Ruble :)

Phlebotomy Training at Family Health Services Training Center

I took a class in phlebotomy at Family Health Services Training Center and for me, it was a wonderful experience! The first day of class, the staff gave a thorough overview of what the program intailed and what we were going to be trained on. The Director of the program was very likable and approachable. He seem to really be knowledgeable about the laboratory field and genuinely cared about each and every student's success. The intructors were also great and knowledgeable. They challenge you in the right way while fostering a supportive enviornment. I really learned a lot. The administration staff was extremely attentive. I am a very miticulous and detailed oriented individual, and I have to say, that this place far exceeded my exspectations. They handled all of my paper work timely and efficiently, and had I a great learning experience at my internship! I did so well that I was offered a position at the hospital where I interned!!! I had no resume and the staff built me a full resume for my interview. I mean a FULL portfolio: the resume, cover letter, and a personal letter of recommendation--the works!! I was told that this place has been in business for over 25 years here in San Diego County and that it was one of the first schools accredited to teach phlebotomy in California. Which seems to be true because nearly every phlebotomist that I know said they received their training from Family Health Services Training Center. Seriously, everyone down to the laboratory manager where I interned said that they always hire graduates from this school vs other local Phlebotomy schools because Family Health Services students have superior training. Two of my friends who attended other phlebotomy schools, were extremely dissatisfied with the training they received and decided to re-do their phlebotomy training here. All I have to say is that I had an AWESOME experience! I would definitely recommend Family Health Services Training Center to any perspective phlebotomy student who is looking for a school who provides excellent training and will go far beyond to assist you in landing a job as a phlebotomist.

although my husband went throu...

although my husband went through this program and was certified, students do not realize that the ratio of students that they graduate month after month and the amount of jobs out there are NOT to the best interest for someone looking at this for a vocation. San Diego is over saturated with Phlebotomy students that have NOT found any work. Every job posted requires 1 year experience and as a new grad NO ONE is willing to hire a new grad with no experience. There are NO places to even find a volunteer position to get the experience you need that employers are asking for. Just google indeed.com/volunteer diego. You will see that the money you invest into this program or any phlebotomy program, thinking you will find a job here in san diego, is a WASTE! be sure to ask what they're job placement ratio is before you pay the ridiculous tuition . THERE ARE NO JOBS!!! yet they generate students so fast with the disillusion of promising work opportunities. Do NOT pay the money!
