Timothy Floreth, MD, is a board-certified pulmonologist who is nationally recognized for his expertise in treating chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), interstitial lung disease and cystic fibrosis. Dr. Floreth is passionate about providing patient-centered care to improve patients quality of life and long-term outcomes. He focuses on the patient in regard to their environment and believes that health care is best provided by offering to a patient, a capable health care team who is well educated about their care plan. His research interests include lung transplant, cystic fibrosis and interstitial lung diseases.Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, Dr. Floreth was assistant professor of clinical medicine at the Keck School of Medicine at USC, and a lung transplant, pulmonary and critical care physician at Tampa General Hospital in Florida.He completed fellowships in lung transplant research as well as pulmonary critical care at University of Chicago Medical Center, where he also was a resident in internal medicine. He earned his medical degree from University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.
