- Interstitial lung disease is the name for a complex and wide variety of lung disorders of known and unknown causes, comprised of over 200 clinical conditions. These are inflammatory fibrotic lung diseases, and most of them are incurable but treatable. Those who progress despite treatment may need lung transplantation. The Center for Interstitial Lung Disease (CILD) at UW Medical Center - Montlake provides complete diagnostic evaluations and disease management for patients with ILD at all stages, including pre-lung transplant evaluation and transition to transplant for those who are potential candidates.
