General Info
Western New Mexico University is one of the leading universities in the United States. Located in Silver City, N.M., it has been operational for more than 55 years. The university enrolls more than 5,000 graduate and undergraduate students, and offers a wide range of academic programs, including associate, baccalaureate, master's, specialist's, doctoral, and professional degrees. Spread over more than 100 acres of land, it houses advanced learning resource centers, a bookstore, over 500-seat theater, technology-based library, conference facility, and student lounge and recreation rooms. The university provides various intercollegiate, intramural and recreational sports programs, such as men and women basketball, cheerleading, golf, track and field, cross-country, baseball, tennis, badminton, swimming, soccer and softball. Its courses include accounting, applied management, biochemistry, biophysics, computer engineering, corporate financial management, criminal justice, criminology, Earth science and economics. The university also offers majors in electrical engineering, English and creative writing, media communications, entrepreneurial studies, exercise and sports science, risk management, world history, and foreign languages and literature.
