Dion is a wonderful instructor. He has a vast knowledge of BJJ and is a highly skilled practitioner. He understands that each student excels at different speeds and allows them to train accordingly. His class is a great environment for learning and training. Whether you are a beginner or an expert, Dion has something to offer all his students in training.

My name is Eric Johnson and I am a student at Watts Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy. Dion Watts is an excellent instructor that is easy to understand and gives great direction to all learning levels. The environment is friendly and very good for kids. Mr. Watts as well as all the other instructors, make it their best interest to teach practical and skilled jiu jitsu, while maintaining safety to avoid unessassary injury. I go almost every day, every time I feel I learn something new and get better.

Watts MMA is a great gym with very knowledgeable instructors and a friendly staff. The Jiu Jitsu program is superb. Dion Watts and Kenny Bond are both excellent teachers with many years of Jiu Jitsu under their belts. Dion Watts received his black belt from Jean Jacques Machado after locating to Los Angeles from different parts of the US. Dion mostly teaches the fundamentals class and the youth class making sure that the students begin to master techniques and develop a basic understanding of Jiu Jitsu. Kenny Bond is the head instructor and teaches the 7:30 class as well as the Saturday class. He began training under Jean Jacques Machado and began training under Renato Magno when he moved to Santa Monica. Renato received his black belt from Carlos Gracie Jr. and started the Street Sports team. He has produced a great number of excellent black belts including Kenny Bond. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the sport and is very hands on in his teaching. He offers guidance to the students by offering his knowledge and facilitating the evolution of the techniques being learned. If you are looking for a school that is more like a family and you arent treated like just another source of income come to Watts MMA. The staff and students are very friendly and they have a great program that will help get you into shape. It is a great way for the younger students to focus their energy on a productive activity that will promote self discipline and a healthy lifestyle as opposed to playing video games all day.

All in one martial arts facility: Brazilian Jiujitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Karate. What more could you ask for if you need to defend yourself on the streets? There are classes not just for adults, but for kids too. Don't be intimidated by the classes because the instructors work with you at your pace to move you up in strength, flexibility, coordination, and knowledge. I've been to San Diego, and other Jiujitsu schools around Simi Valley as well as schools in cities nearby. This one is amazing for children because there are a lot of different children to grapple with. Some schools have such a small selection in terms of body weight, size or experience that it is hard for my son to find the right match or to competitively increase in learning potential. However, this place is perfect if you have a child that is interested in Jiujitsu because there are plenty of children. I also see a lot of pre-teens & high schoolers doing the kickboxing class too. It's a fun and friendly atmos

I've been going to SVJJ for a few months now, it's a great atmosphere, great staff, and a great community of people who love the Martial Arts. I'm a former Marine with experience with MCMAP and the experience and instruction of the teachers here have been able to help me expand on my knowledge base, making me a more complete martial arts student.

KIDS CLASS!! FUN, FUN! I have been going here to the kids class for almost a year. I checked out about 6 other schools in the surrounding area before signing up with this one. I really liked that there was a wide variety of different ages, sizes, and experiences of other kids to grapple with. In some of the other places that I visited there were NOT a lot of variety of kids/choices, so grappling was not a challenge. I have been in martial arts for over 5 years, so I can tell you that these instructors are very patient compared to the ones that I have had in the past. Their knowledge has helped me with winning in competitions and I look forward to growing and learning more with this school in years to come.

I've been coming to Watts MMA for over a year now and i've been very impressed. Very large studio, wrestling mats, jiu jitsu mats, multiple kicking bags for Muy Thai, big mirror to focus on technique. The one thing that I love is they continually update and upgrade the studio. Students can see where the money goes as things are always improved. A good group of people train both gi and no-gi and this place is good for beginners or veterans.

After years of getting dragged down by wrestlers and judokas, my candy tae kwon do background could sneak in a few strikes before getting dominated on the floor. I realized that most fights will end up on the floor in one way or another, and being exposed to ER thugs and drunks, along with getting fat, I had to do something. After research everywhere within 25 miles of my work, Watts MMA (back then, Simi Valley Jiu Jitsu) was the only school that called me back, answered all my questions, and didn't treat me like I was in boot camp. All the guys there treated me with a lot of respect and were eager to teach me anything I could possibly ask. My search ended right there. If you're looking for a clean, respectable school with fine instructors and training partners, your search will end here too...
