I had a 347 Stroker for my 1989 mustang built by G & S machine, Bobby did the build. First assembly was fine other than delays and picking the long block up slightly incomplete having to finish minor assembly myself. No fault of G & S, a so called friend of mine turned the fuel pressure up on first start up a washed the cylinders down thus trashing my rings causing me to re-build the engine. I took it back to G&S for the rebuild and this is where it went wrong. I paid them $800+ for the rebuild and got the same engine back that still had no compression and blew clouds of smoke out the pipes. Bad Karma got my so called friend 1100. Miles later when his oil pressure dropped, after pulling the engine down he discovered they put standard crank bearings in after he told them he had it turned and would need measuring. Also they were supposed to measure for pushrod lengths for his staggered 1.6 & 1.7 roller rockers, they put standard length in, he caught this at install but not the mains. He tried to get them to stand behind the work , instead he ended up paying another $500 plus in charges they said he owed.
My lesson learned is. Don’t take a Ford engine to Chevy guys, especially ones that don’t have any character, pay the extra for assembly at Kuntz &Co and have it done right in knowledge and integrity!
