- Carpal Tunnel SyndromeAn NCS detects how effectively a nerve sends and receives signals from the spine. Carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve disorders are discovered through an NCS. This test involves placing electrodes on your skin. The examiner will then administer a small electrical current which will cause your nerves to fire. While the charge is small enough to cause no damage to your body, it allows the physician to see how well your nerves are delivering impulses.
