- UltrasoundEVLT is a minimally invasive laser treatment for varicose veins caused by greater or lesser saphenous vein reflux. In many patients it is a desirable alternative to surgery. The procedure is performed in the office using a local anesthetic. A small catheter containing a laser fiber is painlessly inserted into the vein under ultrasound guidance. The fiber is connected to the power source and the vein is then collapsed using the heat generated by the laser. A single steri-strip is placed over the catheter entrance site and compression stockings are then worn for one month after the procedure.
