Red Dragon Martial Arts Academy is a modern Kenpo karate school.Founded in 2003 by Bob Downey. With his wife Trish and children Bobby and Ali by his side they began teaching karate classes for children and adults in September of 2003 to rave reviews from parents and students.In 2007 RDMAA moved to it's new facility at the PAGODA on route 140 in Norton, just south of the Comcast Center. The school has an 1150 sq. foot Dojo, 1st and 2nd floor viewing, and a pro-shop filled with all of your martial art supply needs.In the summer of 2010 RDMAA opened their second location in Foxfield plaza off route 140 in Foxborough.In the summer of 2011 the Collins family, long time students and assistant teachers, began managing the Foxborough school while continuing their study of the art with the Downeys. John and his children Patrick and Sophie have continued their tutelage with the Downey family, shared their passion and knowledge of the art with the students in Foxborough, and were humbled when they received the compliments they got from students and their families.In November of 2012, after several discussions with the Barletta family, we moved the Foxborough school to the Rodman Arena (formerly Iorio Arena) on Route 1 in Walpole between Gillette Stadium and Route 95. The Barlettas share our philosophy in offering the best training facilities and instruction possible to their students in order for them to be able to pursue their passions and goals. It is a huge facility with lots of Dojo space and plenty for families to do while there. The facility has been active and ever growing since it's inception, and will offer Red Dragon Martial Arts Academy many years of stability and security. We are thrilled to have crossed paths with them.

Red Dragon Martial Arts Academy is a fun, hard working, and enjoyable American Kenpo Karate school for children, teens and adults. Some Martial Arts include boxing, kicking, or wrestling, but this style created by Grand Master Edmund K. Parker includes all three, plus a couple of extra surprises! We are conveniently located on Route 1 in Walpole, Ma. above both rinks in the Express Ice Center at Iorio Arena. Our classes are unlimited, up to five times each week! We work out hard after stretches using blocks, punches, kicks, and combinations of all three. We then also practice self defense techniques, combinations, forms, grappling (floor work,) and sparring, all while having fun! We teach individually or in group classes at age appropriate levels. Our youngest students play cool games like dodge-ball and can break boards all while learning the core skills of our Martial Art, while our most mature students gain more insight and knowledge of our Art as they journey through it. Our goal is to help our students become capable, confident Black Belts, but also make it fun to improve the skills it takes to be a true Black Belt and Martial Artist. Though American Kenpo stems from and highly respects traditional Kenpo, it expands upon that significantly in a practical system adapted to protect you in our modern world.
