The Vet at Blueridge is by far the best veterinary hospital in town. They strike the perfect balance between expertise, quality of care, compassion, and price. As a long time pet owner, I have used a number of veterinary services over the past 20 years. I found The Vet at Blueridge three years ago and will never take my pets anywhere else.

The Vet at BlueRidge is very accommodating, friendly, and knowledgable. We have been clients for over 5 years using them as a trusted vet and a boarding facility. I would highly recommend them to care for all your cherished fur babies.

Our dog was viciously attacked while boarding here. We boarded our dog here for 5 nights around Thanksgiving -- our first time at Vet at Blueridge. When I called to confirm a pickup time on her last day, I was informed that she had been viciously attacked by another dog. Apparently, a bigger dog broke through a gate and jumped on our dog. The dog bit her left ear in several places and left a sizable tooth puncture in her back.

When I picked her up, they explained what happened and I remained calm, even though my wife and I were worried and upset. The vet tech explained that we had to give our dog antibiotics and use iodine to clean her wounds.

Then, the vet tech had the nerve to give me the total cost. She wanted us to actually PAY for having our poor dog attacked. Really?

I was kind of in shock that this was even suggested. I told her that there was no way we were paying after what had happened and she got visibly angry, saying, "That's what you think is right?!?!"

Yes, that's what I think is right. Your job as a boarding facility is to make sure our dog is fed and safe. That's it. You failed at your job. You're lucky that we aren't taking legal action. If it weren't for this vet tech, I wouldn't have even written a review.

She continued giving me her terrible attitude and tried to stare me down with an angry look on her face. When I stared right back at her, she forced a fake, sarcastic smile. She brought the vet himself into the room and we talked. He was actually apologetic and nice, which was the only thing preventing me from taking further legal action. The vet seems like a nice, reasonable man, but he should really do a better job of hiring nice, reasonable people.

This clearly isn't about the money. We would've gladly paid 4X the amount to know that our dog was safe and well taken care of. We were about as understanding as loving dog owners could be in this situation.

Accidents happen -- we understand that. But a) They should've called to let us know what happened; and b) The vet tech should not have, under any circumstances, taken an attitude with me, the owner of a dog who already has anxiety issues and was just attacked by some vicious dog that wasn't properly secured.

I don't think this place is always bad. At least, I hope our case was an exception. Just be aware that at least one dog has been viciously attacked while left in Vet at Blueridge's care.

The DRs Farrar are kind, compassionate and the most reasonably priced veterinarians in the area. Dr. Glen is an orthopedic DR and always checks bones, etc during routine exams. You don't get that with most vets. Also available (reasonable) for emergencies.HIGHLY recommend this hospital!
