I live in Hampton and was riding through Windsor (Speed Trap) when I got a speeding ticket. In discussion with the State Trooper, I was informed that Dewitts Auto down the road does speed calibration tests if I didn’t think we were speeding. I was a little upset at the time so we went home. With my daughter being a new driver my husband said to get the calibration test done in hopes it was off. I googled speedometer calibration test and Dewitts auto was on the list, cheapest, and the closest for me. So I called made an appointment with ease. I arrived early, they took me in and I was done with all the necessary paper work we needed for court right under an hour.

I go where people remember me and treat me like family. We are coming to the age of appointments. You need an appointment for everything. The days of walking in and getting something done right then is becoming impossible. Even though DeWitt’s stays pretty busy and making an appointment would make it easier on everyone. They still take walk ins and try to fit me in there already busy schedule. If they can’t they offer me a ride home and will pick me up, they have even offered me lunch when I walk in on their lunch break. I haven’t had any issues with prices they are always notify me of prices before work is done.

The office staff is very courteous and professional. I have been coming here since I moved here in 2005. They have always addressed my needs and provided me with an estimate before any work is done. And if they see something else that needs to be done they always call me first even if an increase of $10.00 or a light bulb needed for state inspection. DeWitt’s is also one of the few mom and pop garages that try to evolve with the changing times. They keep their equipment updated and there staff educated.

If you are a single parent this is the friendliest place to come to get your car worked on. I am a single mother and to have to go somewhere with him to wait and get my car worked on is for the birds. Most places offer to give you a ride home but as soon as you arrive with a child that needs a car seat in order to get a ride home the offer becomes too difficult to for fill. Not a DeWitt’s Automotive Center, my first visit an older gentleman offered to follow me home and he would bring her car back to get serviced. That’s what I did, they gentleman followed me home and took my car back to get worked on and brought it back. Now that my son is older I don’t always use the service they offer because he loves looking at the car in the display case, and he really waits for the ladies to dout all over him and proud to get the sucker on the way home if he has been good. I have never had a bad experience and there prices are not the lowest in the area but they are right in line with all surrounding garages places and the staff always explains things in a manner that I understand and are very detailed in their estimates. Thank you for being a business I can trust.

I just moved into the area and needed a State Inspection. My neighbors suggested DeWitt’s Automotive Center. So I walked in today without an appointment. They seemed busy I was afraid I would have to come back. I was greeted very warmly by Bonnie and between her and another lady sitting behind her they said it might be about a 20 minute weight and then the state inspection would take another 30 minutes. As she checked me in she also asked if I wanted to a free courtesy check along with the state inspection, she said between the state inspection and the courtesy check I would know everything about my car. I was there for about an hour, but by looking at all the antiques and signs and the nice conversations with other customers I felt light I was really only there for 20 minutes. As I was checking out I was told everything looked good state inspection and the courtesy check. Bonnie did inform me that by hot summer time they would like to recheck the tires that they are getting close and I might want to replace them before the hot summer. Bonnie also asked if I wanted to sign up for a new customer program that allows me to build up points and get coupons for future work. This sounded good since I just moved here and I am not moving any time soon. Over all this was a pleasant place to do business and the ladies in the office were nice and have a great since of humor. It is nice to see coworkers really working together. GREAT JOB LADIES!!

Took in my car for my yearly inspection. They failed it, which was perfectly fine, its an old car. They listed these reasons for the failed inspection: front tires, rear brake shoes, rear brake lights, brake line in the front. Later upon personal inspection, its obvious the front tires needed replaced, so I replaced them. The rear brake shoes didn't REALLY need replaced, but I replaced them anyway. My rear brake lights were working fine (I don't know why they told me they weren't), and the brake line in the front was fine as well.

I returned to get my car reinspected. They failed it again, but not for any of the un-fixed reasons that they failed me before. No, this time they listed new reasons. I asked the woman in the front why they didn't see this last time (headlights aimed incorrectly, not something really difficult to see) Her response was: "I dunno".

They also told me that I didn't adjust my rear brake shoes correctly, and they adjusted them for me...but I DID adjust them correctly, and they reset them, and now my emergency brake does not work.

They also felt the need to put my 32psi-recommended pressure front tires to to >50psi.

There was also a message on their front business sign which basically surmounted to "HURRR OBAMA IS DUMB". No one cares about your political opinion.

I get my Car Worked on and Serviced At Dewitts regularly and the Service is always Precise and they Are good to their customers...Ive never been Misled whatsoever..and the Work Always Stands up...Of Course things go wrong with any Car Along & Along..But I dont believe Anything is Backdrafting to Dewitts....I will Always Take my Car there...They Do An Excellent Job And Their Personalities are Wonderful...A Family Oriented Atmosphere is Just how I feel When I walk In the Door...Tammy Hawks Cole :)

I am a widow and have never had to take car of a car in my life. I went straight from high school in to marraige. After 46 years of marraige my husband has passed. He always taken car of our vehicles. He had always taken his vehicle to DeWitt even prior to DeWitt' Automotive Center opening. The first time I went with my car I told them I am counting on you to take care of my vehicle. I now just come in and give them the keys and say take care of me. They automatically know what I need based on mileage. I put my trust in them and they have alsways treated me right down to explaining car information in my terms so I understand. We recently took our car here to have the air conditioner fixed. Their techs found and fixed (what they assumed) was the problem, and 1 day after we picked up our vehicle the AC was still not working. We took it back to them a second time and they told us it was a different part that needed to be replaced, and so we replaced it. To make a long story short, our AC is still not working and they have had our vehicle 5 times. DO NOT take your car here, they will charge you for whatever they want, whether it needs to be replaced or not. They clearly have no idea what they are doing, and they could care less if your car is not working, as long as they have their money they are happy. Since taking it there, many people in the area have told me their own horror stories about this place, so beware.
